Many factors are considered prior to the establishment of each patient’s wound management protocol, because although similar, no two (or more) wounds are exactly alike.
Our philosophy is based on the fact that chronic wounds do not exist in otherwise healthy individuals. Thorough physical assessment is essential in the treatment of wounds. It is critical to identify the factors which result in the compromise of the individual and cause wounds to persist. Factors such as infection, poor circulation, inadequate nutrition, biomechanics and management of contributing medical conditions are among the concerns that must be addressed for wounds to begin healing.
Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC), Growth Factor Therapy, and living skin substitutes (Apligraf and Dermagraft) are among the advanced modalities used in our Center.
When appropriate, other specialists may be consulted, such as Vascular surgeons, Infectious Disease, Internal Medicine, Endocrinologists, and Physical Therapists. The management of wounds is often a multi-disciplinary effort.
Our staff is composed of only Medical and Nursing professionals with years of wound management experience and advanced certifications within their respective profession.
